2023 Sonlight Level 100 Homeschool Curriculum Includes Math & Science

Description: "Sonlight Core 100" 2023 Curriculum. Includes Math and Science. Condition is Like New. This is the American History 120, American History Literature 130, and Bible 110 sequence so the IG (Instructor Guide) is complete with History, Bible, and Language Arts. Also includes SG (Student Guide) which is complete with History, Bible, and Language Arts as well. Neither guide has marks or highlights in it. These guides are not identical. The IG is a true teachers guide, while the SG allows the student to follow along and prepare without answers. The SG is complete and there is an additional LA student guide packet unused. There were no separate Language Arts worksheets to fill in for this curriculum. We did not include "National Geographics Book of Nature Poetry" as we did not complete it and will continue with it in ninth grade (200 level). Poetry has been emphasized in Son Light LA curriculums from Core C on. There are five poetry writing assignments in this level. This is the 5 day American History curriculum. That being said, we used BJU Press for history so we didn't purchase all the history that Son Light offers. We used The American Republic which actually meshes quite well with the Son Light items. It is rated for junior high level students. It does include a CD with other activities, exercises, and notes. We did not use it so it remains attached to the teachers guide book #1. Purchased new this curriculum alone is valued at $290. We purchased only 4 of the 18 read-alouds / history plus 6 other books we used. We supplemented history with two other books we favored. This is a total of 12 that you can utilize as read-alouds if you desire. One book--"A Child's Anthology of Poetry"--is part of Son Light's 230 Level curriculum. Several of the poems are listed in the History 120 Guides to be read. Two of the books--"Guatemala: Memory of Silence" and "I, Rigoberta Menchu" were used by my son in researching the Guatemalan Civil War. Every Son Light curriculm from Core D on has required the student do a research paper. These books are very enlightening and of course can be used as you like. Every single reader is included and we have included 19 literature guides (most of the readers are covered) as well. These professionally produced literature guides cost nearly $300 alone. My son found them very useful in his study and research on the many writing assignments through-out this curriculum (a total of 19 not including a media assignment and research paper). The great thing about this LA sequence is that there are timed SAT practice essays as well. The entire Bible curriculum is included. This curriculum is rated by Sonlight for grades 8-10. We used it for our eighth grader who excelled with it. There is an NLT bible, NLT Comprehensive Concordance, and a compact Bible dictionary included. Son Light bible curriculum's step your child through how to study the Bible and you might find these items quite useful. We have also included additional Bible courses that we used and were quite valuable. We have enjoyed the Abeka flash-a-card bible series. We included The Tabernacle, The Life of Moses, The Life of Ruth, and The Life of Paul bible curriculums. There are also 66 laminated 8.5 x 11 bible maps and charts as well. We have also included other learning items related to history and bible. The last two years (junior high), we used a Typing Instructor software to improve our sons keyboarding skills. The noise reduction headphone and mic unit is not included. Science is from Berean Builders. This science course is appropriate for grades 7 and 8 of junior high-school students. There is one 36 week (1 year) course included with its complete lab kit. This year we taught Earth Science. This course, which can be used for high school credit, is designed to give students a general introduction to how the earth has been designed as a haven for life. It begins with a study of the earth’s basic layout (crust, mantle, and core), and then it focuses on the crust, allowing students to explore the physical and chemical natures of minerals and rocks. This leads to a study of the rock cycle. Once students understand the nature of the earth’s crust, they learn about plate techtonics. The lab kit is loaded and complete. You will also find a rock specimen kit included as well. We did purchase a molecular model kit which we did use in one section of the Earth Science course. It is not a chemical intensive course however. If your child loves hands on learning, they will love Berean Builders! I always replace items I consume in the science lab kits. This complete science lab kit would cost you $91 alone.
