Description: The FX collection from Kastle has gone through some changes over the years and after having done away with metal in previous years, metal is now back in these skis for this season. The FX86 Ti is a versatile, all-terrain ski that offers a playful yet powerful performance all over the mountain. The FX86 Ti starts with Kastle’s triple wood core which features a denser wood in the center of the core and less dense woods around the outside of the core. Not only does this give the ski a stable and responsive flex, but it also helps save about 500 grams per ski. The core is designed in such a way that features a 3D shape in the tip and tail and a flat shape underfoot. The thicker center portion of the tip and tail help improve torsional stiffness without having to add additional material. Two sheets of Titanal are added to the core to increase stability and vibration damping altogether, which make these skis quite smooth, as to be expected from Kastle. A generous sidecut and slightly shorter turn radius invite you into a turn, but it's not too short of a radius tow where the ski feels too demanding. At 86 millimeters under the boot, this ski is wide enough for great all-mountain versatility, but it also rips on the groomed stuff as well. There are certainly wider skis for softer conditions but the FX86 Ti would be a fantastic daily driver for skiers that don’t find themselves in deep snow all that often but like skiing a mix of terrain.
