Description: The Nike Smoke sounding rocket was designed for studying wind shear in the upper atmosphere. When flown, it left a prominent smoke trail in flight that was photographed to allow scientists to view wind conditions at different altitudes simultaneously. This is a semi-scale model of this classic rocket scaled from drawings by Peter Alway. This kit uses a BT-70 (2.217") body tube, laser-cut plywood fins, and a Bad Boy Rocketry, detailed, resin-printed, nose cone that is heat and UV resistant. Kit comes with a 29mm motor tube, laser-cut plywood fins and centering rings, Kevlar brand shock cord, 1/4" launch lugs (with stand-offs), vinyl decal and step-by-step instructions. This is an advanced construction kit and requires that you cut your own fin slots in the body tube. It is not recommended as your first rocket. This kit does not come with a parachute, Nomex, recovery harness, or motor retention so you can save money and re-use your own, however, these products are available from us if you don't already have them. This rocket has been successfully flown on F26-6 and F20-7 motors and will fly on a variety of F and small G motors. Recovery was a 20" nylon chute and a BBR Recovery Harness. NOT INCLUDED.
