Description: 3 Greetings TUCK "Write Away" Series 60, 642, 1392. For Collectors Nice with Value This is a nice lot of 3 GREETINGS POSTCARDS from the publisher TUCK & SONS that show life with PEOPLE. These postcards are ANTIQUE postcards from the early 1900s. The postcards are colorful and attractive. These have a "comic sketch" look to them. TUCK & SONS postcards have good value. These postcards are from various "WRITE AWAY" series that TUCK published. These postcards were published in the 1901, 1902, and 1904 era. The artist for this series is L. Thackeray. They were designed in England and "Chromographed in Saxony / Bavaria". They have UNDIVIDED backs. The particulars for the postcards are: 1. "You will remember..." - Write Away Series 60. Published 1901, canceled 19042. "Sorry to put you off ... " - Series 1392. Published 1902, cancelled 1905 3. "I am delighted ... " - Series 642. Published 1904, cancelled 1906 These postcards are all POSTED and clean. They have UNDIVIDED back. Postcards with UNDIVIDED BACKS were used from 1901-1907. An undivided back is a good indicator of the age of the postcard and its historical significance. During this time period, ONLY THE ADDRESS could be put on the back, and any written message had to be done on the front of the postcard. These type of postcards are collector items because of their age, and because of the limited number of such postcards in existence today. Also, collectors like to own postcards that were published in the beginning years of the postcard hobby. These postcards were published by Raphael Tuck & Sons, who is an important and valued publisher. They published from 1866 through the mid 1960s in England. They first started with publishing Christmas cards printed in their native Prussia, Germany. They are noted for high quality postcards and ephemera that have a huge appeal to collectors. Tuck’s “Oilette” Series was the first VIEWS postcards published in 1903 and came in sets. These became their most popular cards, and a “standard” model for other publishers. The firm was so well respected that they had the honor of being appointed in 1894 by Queen Victoria as the "Art Publishers to their Majesties the King & Queen of the United Kingdom.” These are BETTER POSTCARD and good for a collector. The postcards will keep their value! They are sleeved and in good condition. However, please expect some creases, cuts, stains and edge wear due to their age. The photos show the postcards and the backs. The postcards are shipped in a sturdy envelope. We only ship within the USA; we do not ship internationally. USA shipping is with tracking, and we use eBay Standard Envelope mail when the value is under $20 and the weight is under 3 oz; and, we use USPS First Class mail when the value is over $20 or the weight is over 3 oz.
