The Lucky Dog is a big mix with lots of:Wilson—Duo, DuoSoft, Fifty Elite, Black Staff, Velocity, Titanium, Ultra, etc. Top Flight—XL Distance, Hammer, Bomb, D2 dimple-in-dimple, etc.Pinnacle—Rush, Soft, Exception, Gold, etc.Precept—Laddie, PowerDrive, etc.Kirkland—Performance +, etc. And usually some:Maxfli—SoftFli, StraightFli, SpeedFli, Revolution, etc. Slazenger —Long, Feel, Raw Distance, RAW, MONEY, etc. Noodle—Soft and Long, Distance, etc. Nitro—Ultimate Distance, Maximum Distance, Glycerine, Pulsar, etc.Tommy Armour—Silver Scot, Evo, etc.Ram—Tour, Distance, etc.Warrior, TiTech, InTech, Dunlap, Strata, etc. Rarely, on accident:Titleist, Callaway, TaylorMade, Bridgestone, Nike, etc.If we find it, you might find it too! 5A Mint—Looks and feels like a new ball, played maybe a hole or two. NO scuffs, teeth marks, or discoloration. Balls with logos and neatly made player marks (dots, alignment lines, etc) are mixed in. Coats have silky luster and bright brightness. Rarely, there may be a very discrete flaw (under an interrogation lamp, using readers). No practice, x-out, or refurbs. Overall, SWEET! 4A Near Mint—Same as Mint, except for a minor flaw. For example: extra marker, a very light hit mark or a few discolored dimples. Coats have nice luster and overall brightness. Player marks and logos are mixed in. No practice, x-out, or refurbs. Overall, NICE. 3A Seasoned—Lively boogers sporting badges of honor and looking for redemption. Solid choice for for casual rounds. Eager volunteers for gnarly hazards. Expect a noticeable flaw: lots of marker, a good scuff, a few speckles from the cat tail patch, light weathering from a great hiding place, etc. Coats have good luster and brightness. Player marks and logos are mixed in. No dark tanning or scuffs thru the coat. A few practice, x-outs or refurbs may be included. Overall, OK. 2A Practice—Not great, not terrible. Good practice fodder for chipping around the back yard, but probably not for course play. Expect obvious flaws: wild marker, a deep scuff, discoloration, tanning, etc. Coats usually don’t have much luster or brightness. Player marks, logos, practice, x-outs, ancient generations, and refurbs may be included. No cuts. Probably would bother to pick ‘em up a few more times. Overall, kinda UGLY. 1A Hit Aways—Horrid, one step from the dumpster. Perfect for smashing into oblivion. These battle axes are run thru the wash a few times. We scrub, but we don’t use a Tide Pen or sandblast peanut-butter-cruded-on-enamel. Some might in better shape, but they’re ancient. Others might have bad scuffs, deep tans, mottling under the clear coat, maybe some worn dimples. Coats are usually dull, but no splits or cuts to the core. Don’t expect new-ball flight or feel. If going the oblivion route, please choose a good resting place. Overall, RUFF balls. Hey—if they looked nicer, they wouldn’t be fun to launch. For Amusement:CLEAR OUT THE BALLS! Having my hubby work from home is nice, but it had a ruff-ruff start. He tried setting up in the formal dining room. The big table and bright windows, tasty kitchen snacks—lovely. He walked into The Ballroom with laptop and coffee in hand and clicked on the lights. Blinking away blindness from mega-watt chandelier bulbs, the room’s new contents began to register. A warehouse filled with boxes: Tito’s, Johnny Walker, Kirkland Margarita Mix, New Belgium Beer. Sweet Jesus, now she opened a bar! Wait...no....a closer look—golf balls? At that exact moment, he swears there was a ghostly whisper: billions and billions, it boggles the hoo-man imagination. I cobbled together some explanations, one involved the cosmic fate of golf balls. The looks on my husband’s face were a journey. Surprise, incomprehension, amusement, kinda blank, then concern. “Sweetie, you’re ok, right?” Uh-oh, time to get normal. I blamed the dog. Threw my bestie Max under the bus then relied on him to vouch my sanity. Poor loyal beast. Living on #8 for over 15 years, the orange Homer Bucket is usually stuffed with balls. Daily walkies and The Unloading of the Pockets provide inputs. Bag refills and Home Driving Range keep equilibrium. Troubles began when Max discovered hunting in the Fall of 2019. Populations ka-boomed and Homer cracked. Max is a Pittie found at Chicago Animal Control doing a tough stretch. He was about four years old, history unknown. As we became best friends I adored his sweet nature and charming goofiness. And became more vigilant around commercial-grade water sprinklers, and snack carts. Today Max is my shadow, watching everything I do—then doing it MAXIMUS. Working in the garden? I dig hot tub holes. Trying to nap? I snore off wallpaper. Bubble bath? Oh-hi! Pass Chardonnay. Picking up a stray ball on walkies? Found some, bring wagon! Max and I love hunting. But sorting and grading usually devolves into a philosophical exercise. Before Max, I avoided this for years using Simplified Binary Sorting (good, bad). My (s) BS method was good nuff until the ka-boom. In exchange for delayed commitment papers, I promised to clear out the balls. So, Max and I put on our readers (he likes to pretend), turned on the megawatt chandelier, and scrutinized each ball into one of the 5 A’s. With determination, focus, and lots of packing tape—we’ll be back to normal in no time. Except we had nice walkies yesterday and Max brought home a double-bagger. Thanks for checking out our listings. It’s great to put these friends back onto the course—and, with luck, into your next hole-in-one trophy! 🏆
