Description: This is a hard-to-find form antique sterling silver souvenir spoon commemorating the World's Fair held in Chicago, Illinois, in 1892-93. It is about 5-1/2" long. It has a pointed citrus bowl with a serrated edge, say, for eating grapefruit. The front of the bowl is hand-engraved "Gretchen to Sara" and the back is engraved "Oct. 92". The handle has "World's Fair Chicago Ill." on the front and "1492 -1892" on the back. Maker's marks: "Sterling 4" on the back and "Pat. Jan. 14 92." and the W with rays hallmark for Frank Whiting, an American silversmith. Weight: 21.7 grams, a nice weight. Engraving: As described above.
