Description: This listing is for an Abraham Rattner mixed media / Collage / portrait of an old / elderly man / Rabbi , framed under glass in a gesso type frame with loss to gesso work of the frame on top and bottom as shown. This identification is made by more than 1/2 dozen similar works sold at reputable auction houses as being the works of Abraham Rattner. A patron emailed me suggesting that the Artist is rather Babs Rattner which he suggested that he operated a Gallery in Chicago in 1960s. He mentioned owning a similar artwork that has the gallery tag. I did request from him to send me some images of the artwork and the tag but unfortunately I did not hear back from him. So Please do your own research. Frame is original to the artwork and most probably supplied by artist. Unopened, as is, as shown. Done on an Artist / mat board. Signed upper right " Rattner ". Board size of 18 inches by 24 inches, frame size of 24 1/2 inches by 30 1/2 inches . Abraham Rattner (New York/Pennsylvania/France, 1893-1978) . Studied architecture at George Washington University, Washington D.C., with painting classes at the Corcoran School of Art. He had begun study at the Pennsylvania Academy of Fine Arts in 1917 before the war interrupted the endeavor. After the war, he attended the Ecole des Beaux Arts in Paris as the result of a traveling fellowship from the academy. He would later meet Claude Monet when studying in Paris. Rattner was stylistically attuned to Georges Rouault and Pablo Picasso. This item can be shipped without frame and glass at reduced shipping cost on request. On such case no returns will be accepted. I usually post many more images on my listing than the 12 listed on eBay gallery which only will be visible to individuals on classic eBay site ( that would be when item is viewed on a computer) .
