This classic original ACE HARLYN flash sheet measures aprox. 11" x 10" and comes with a hand-written letter of authenticity from Shaw. The name ACE HARLYN is blacked out on some of his older sheets, probably by another rival tattoo artist who acquired it and put it on display - often by an artist named "Indio" from San Juan, Puerto Rico, where much of this old Bowery flash ended up and was eventually acquired by Shaw back in the late 1980s. This sort of tattoo "piracy" was a fairly common practice among old school tattoo artists back in the day. But the name ACE HARLYN is still clearly visible under the black ink when these pirated sheets are seen in the right light. NOTE: Original antique tattoo flash sheets like the one shown here have been increasing in value at an extraordinary rate over the last 10 years. And with the growing interest in tattoo art in the mainstream art world, there is no end in sight - making this a very solid investment for the forward-thinking collector.
