Description: Air Traffic Control Communications systGERERAL:This is a custom designed/built, complete "ATCT", portable-system, including '2' VHF & '1' UHF frequency. It was initially designed for use by FAA in supporting Statewide Airshow's & similar events, as well as emergency & backup support for major installations. It was built to be extremely 'flexible', dependable, battery back up & quick deployment by only 1 person in 15-MIN.!. It's all 'solid-state', full power output at low power requirements (120VAC/5Amps), using CERTIFIABLE equipment for Air Traffic Control, that has been the mainstay of both FAA & U.S. Military for the past 20-years in both towers & enroute! It includes 'battery-back-up', glitch-less switching, and will operate on a pair of vehicle batteries for 8-hours w/o recharging at failure of AC power, OR 'forever' with intermittent recharging by a vehicle jumper cable. In normal use it employs DUAL chargers that maintain the batteries at peak readiness from its AC input, & will maintain charge on only '1' of them. It has an effective range of 100-Miles, serves '2' Air Traffic Controllers, & includes a set of "3" portable antennas on their own mounting stands. FAA discontinued their support of flying events about 6-years ago, due to expense & personnel shortages, their unit was 'scrapped' to underscore that edict, and their unit included 300 deployments w/o ever a single failure at anytime! Their unit was routinely 'loaned' to U.S,A.F., for field & emergency uses, & was maintained on USAF, emergency-preparedness status, since '9-11'. THIS, 2nd. unit was constructed, identical, to the original, but for 'private' airshow use, included several enhancements, & has been used in several major airshows. All radios are equipped with "frequency synthesizers", which allow them to operate on ANY VHF/UHF aircraft frequency. Radios are ITT AVIONICS ('2' AN/GRT-21 Transmitters, '2' AN/GRR-23 Receivers, '1' AN/GRT-22 Transmitter, '1' AN/GRT-24 Receiver.), have a 100% DUTY-CYCLE, extremely high-quality audio, & time-proven dependability & low maintenance that are unmatched by current replacements! All radios are mounted on ball bearing slide-mounts for quick/easy access. Any 'mix' of radios can be completed in 15-min. w/o any wiring changes (VHF/UHF) The radio rack includes built-in test & monitoring functions that allow operational checks of 'power output', 'modulation', 'antenna performance', 'AC power input', & 'battery charger's', All radios have ALL Operational Mod's. up-to-date, as well as retro-fitted current technology circuit cards installed. Several radios are Factory-NEW, & never used before. AIR TRAFFIC CONTROLLERS CONSOLE:The system is essentially in '2' pieces, with the operations console being remoted from the radio rack by a single wiring cable. The single cable interconnects the units to each other for ALL functions & includes the power to the operators console (furnished from the radio rack) The console is a desktop cabinet, accommodates '2' controllers, & consists of a pair of "FA-8165", Radio Channel packages, mounted in "mirror-image" configuration. The controllers 'share' equal access to the radio rack, in a 'selectable manner' with each having his own speaker, volume control, headset control, etc., the same as in an FAA tower installation, & ALL the same features being retained, including either controller to selectively monitor the other, as desired. The unit design allows each controller to use either an FAA-type headset OR a standard aircraft headset & the speakers are not used in a busy exchange or with a 2nd. controller (due to feedback). The FAA headset is unsuitable for "outside" use as it isn't noise cancelling & a 3MPH wind will make him sound like he's going through a train tunnel but 'inside' is OK. Like the Dual Chargers in the radio rack, the controllers console has "DUAL" DC-DC converters, both monitored, and will sustain operations on '1' A seperate 'test set' is included with the system, which allows the plug-in modules in the '8165' to be both tested and aligned on a workbench, but I'm including dozens of spare, pre-tested, pre-aligned modules with the system! The controllers console also includes a seperate output from each controllers position to 'selectively' feed a P.A. output and/or a news media with any combination of both sides of any radio channel, if desired....& at selectable audio levels of either "P.A."(-20DBM) OR "Mic.-level"(-50DBM). A complete set of factory maintenance manuals are included with this system, including a seperate manual of ALL modifications & custom wiring diagrams that it entailed in construction, as well as a virtual 'lifetime' of spare circuit cards, modules, & other devices. RE: The radios in this unit will require alignment at any frequency change, to be preformed by an FCC licensed Tech. and/or radio shop, using proper electronic test equipment! It will also require an FCC license to be legally used on any aircraft frequency! It can be supplied, in a 'pre-checked' & 'pre-aligned' condition, & I will include alignment training to properly experienced buyers, at delivery, if requested? It can be easily transported/picked-up by a 'pick-up', 'van', or 'trailer', but is too-much to crate & ship by commercial means. I can be 'negotiable' to deliver it to serious & pre-paid buyers, dependent on distance? (I will NOT be able to furnish worthwhile alignment training at a distant delivery, unless buyer has test equipment available?) All components are tested & cosmetically "like New" in appearance!em. Condition is Used.
