This is a genuine prutah of Alexander Jannaeus, struck in bronze, and in the exact condition you see in the high resolution photographs. This piece was struck under the authority of Alexander Jannaeus who was the second king of the Hasmonean Dynasty(son of John Hyrcanus). He also served as high priest. The obverse features a star of eight pellets within diadem, ancient Hebrew legend (YHONATHAN H MALEK) = Alexander The King and the reverse BASILEWS ALEXANDROU, around anchor. Hendin 1150. The Judaean coins of this era were often stuck on slightly irregular shaped flans and were struck by hand. For reference of size, a U.S. dime is about 18mm across. There is debate on which coin the historical "widow's mite" is. This coin is part of the family of coins it would have been. Grading coins is subjective. I believe this coin is VG/F.
