About the author: Alfredo E Uruchurtu worked in primary and secondary education in Mexico, starting as a primary school teacher in 1906 and eventually becoming Head of Primary and Normal Education, and then a Senior Officer of the Ministry of Public Education appointed by President Plutarco Elías Calles. He contributed to the birth of the Secondary School in 1926, opened libraries and introduced the concept of "Kindergarten" in the country. For a time he was head of the Mexican consulate in the city of Frankfurt, Germany.
