Benson - autographed letter signed, 8vo, on printed letterhead of 102 Oakley St., Chelsea 19th April to Mr. de Grey, apparently concerning illustration submissions for non-identified work, “ I think the colored one of the man and the rabbit is quite good, and would do well… the others are not so successful. I should be quite glad if you let (illegible words or names) do some of the book”. Edward Frederick Benson, (1867-1940) English novelist, biographer, short story writer. E. F. Benson is most famous for his classic comic novel Mapp and Lucia, which is the fourth of his six novels in the popular Mapp & Lucia series written between 1922-1939 and adapted for television in 1985. The letter offered was written on the 19th of April but is not further dated. It is an authentic autographed handwritten letter and is in very good condition. The note is written in black ink on 4 1/2" x 7" paper. Toned; with a few tiny tears; else Very Good.
