Description: Antique French Silk Brocade Curtains Set. Belle Epoque Parisienne Hotel. Amazing passementerie trim. Olive/Cream. Beautiful luxurious curtains with a matching pelmet and pair of tie backs. The pattern of hand tied bunches of fern dates from about1900. These curtains came from a now closed hotel in Paris. Double windows opening onto a wrought iron balcony meant long curtains were needed for the stylish room. These curtains would suit very tall windows or a chateau. Hand finished, a sure sign of quality. The curtains are finished on three sides with spectacular passementerie. Look closely to see the spirals and cones that sit on the fringed trim. Although there are a few of these additions missing, the curtains are still spectacular and when hanging the trim still looks amazing. The pelmet is outlined with matching untrimmed passementerie. Large brass rings are sewn onto the reverse of the tie backs, to enable using wall mounted hooks. The pair are made of a left and right curtain, when closed the plain edges meet, trimmed edges are on the outside and bottom.This superb silk brocade is Olive Green and cream, a period colour. On Craig and Rose paint card Tapestry Green is very close. Lining is pale cream cotton. The top heading tape is rufflette of 1 ½ inches. Measurements: Each curtain flat across is: 46 inches (117 cm) Length is 93 inches (235 cm). Pelmet flat across: 40 ½ inches(103 cm) x 10 ½ inches (27 cm) Please see all photos.
