Description: American Song Birds Indigo Bunting/Mullein 24k Gold Rimmed Collector Plate in mint condition. In 1955, Mills B. Lane, president of Citizens and Southern National bank of Georgia, commissioned artist Athos Menaboni to design a set of dinner plates to solely benefit the Cerebral Palsy School-Clinic of Atlanta. The result was a white, limited edition fine-china plate rimmed in gold. Each plate in the Menaboni "American Song Birds" series featured one of eight different song birds and a different flower. They were packaged for two sets of four and sold for twenty-five dollars. The twenty colors on these plates were so outstanding and complex in detail that Onodaga Pottery (part of Syracuse China) was unable to produce them and the Commercial Decal Company of Mt. Vernon, New York, was hired to produce decals for this exquisite series. Please see photos of item up for sale. Will be packaged to protect it during shipping. Tracking will be provided. Any over payment for shipping beyond $1 will be refunded back to the buyer. I am not here to make money by over charging for shipping. Will combine shipping for multiple items purchased. Comes from a smoke free home. Thanks for looking. B1
