America's Famous Hopi Indians!: Their Spiritual Way of Life & Incredible Prophec

Description: America's Famous Hopi Indians! by Boye Lafayette De Mente Estimated delivery 3-12 business days Format Paperback Condition Brand New Description The oral history of Arizonas Hopi Indian tribe tells them that they were the first human beings to inhabit the North and South American continents and that they arrived aboard large rafts, island-hopping across the Pacific Ocean...not by the land bridge that once connected Alaska and Siberia. The details of their arrival, splitting up into groups and going in different directions to populate the two continents, are so detailed that it is hard to believe that they are just myths concocted for some ulterior purpose. In this provocative title, the author, known for his code-word books on the cultures of China, Japan, Korea and Mexico, uses key Hopi words as windows to reveal the traditional beliefs, customs and spirit of the Hopi people. The spiritual-based lifestyle they created was in many ways far superior to those that developed in Europe and other parts of the world...especially in their understanding of both humans and nature, and the cosmos at large. Perhaps most astounding of all in the story of the Hopi is their tradition of prophecies and their in-credible accuracy. Author Biography Boyé Lafayette De Mente has been involved with Japan, China, Korea and Mexico since the late 1940s as a member of a U.S. intelligence agency, student, journalist, editor and author working out of Tokyo, Seoul, Hong Kong, Singapore and Mexico City. He is a graduate of Jochi University in Tokyo, and The American Institute for Foreign Trade (in 1953), now Thunderbird School of Global Management, in Glendale, Arizona, USA. De Mente wrote the first ever books on the Japanese way of doing business (Japanese Etiquette and Ethics in Business in 1959 and How to Do Business in Japan in 1962), and was the first to introduce the now commonly used Japanese terms wa, nemawashi, kaizen, tatemae-honne, shibui, sabi and wabi to the outside business world! His 70-plus other books run the gamut from language learning to the night-time "pink" trades in Japan, the role of bars, cabarets and geisha houses in business, the sensual nature of Oriental cultures, male-female relations, and understanding and coping with the Chinese, Japanese, Korean and Mexican mindset in business and social situations. He has also written extensively on his adopted home state of Arizona, including AMAZING ARIZONA--Fascinating Facts, Legends & Tall Tales!; Visitors Guide to Arizonas Indian Reservatrions; and THE GRAND CANYON ANSWER BOOK -- Everything You Might Want to Know About the Grand Canyon and Then Some!
