Description: This is one ancient Chinese coin produced during the period from early Tang Dynasty to early Northern Song Dynasty, particularly during 621 - 975. Since the coin was initially minted under the rule of Emperor Tang Xuanzong (唐玄宗), his reign title Kaiyuan (開元) was honored on the obverse of the coin, which displays four traditional Chinese characters, from top down, then right to left: 開元通寶 (Kai Yuan Tong Bao). The coin measures 24.5mm across, and weighs around 3.5 grams. A close examination indicates that the coin is slightly magnetic.
