Description: YOU ARE PURCHASING: Andy Warhol Rare Original Most Wanted Men Gagosian 1988, Poster This original poster from an exhibition at Gagosian Gallery in New York in 1988 comes directly from Andy Warhol's estate. The exhibition featured paintings from Warhol’s controversial “Most Wanted Men” series. The project, which showcased mug-shots of America's most wanted criminals, was originally conceived of as an installation for the 1964 World’s Fair on the exterior of the New York State Pavilion. The mural was met with much objection and was promptly painted over, entirely masking the work in silver paint. However, Warhol did also create paintings from these silkscreens which were shown Gagosian Gallery in 1988, as promoted here. This is a unique opportunity to purchase a rare, out-of-print poster from Warhol’s personal collection. Proceeds directly benefit the non-profit charitable organization he founded with the mission to advance the visual arts. Since its inception in 1987, The Andy Warhol Foundation has been a stalwart advocate for freedom of expression, supporting work that is experimental and challenging in nature and from communities that have been historically marginalized.
