Description: Offered this beautiful example of Antique 1800s Victorian era Bennington Majolica Pottery Cuspidor or spittoon. It has very sharp details of 12 cockle shells and rope encircling top half and stylized 12 shell and leaf around middle to bottom. Glossy mottled root beer brown over a mellow yellow glaze.It is in very good vintage antique condition there are no cracks or chips a few tiny scratches due to use and some white paint spatters shown in photos very minuet. the rough spots on bottom is where it sat in the kiln during firing. It has some heft to it 4lb. 4 oz, reminds me of my aunt Beas Christmas fruit cake.It measures approximately 9 in dia. 4 in. tall.
