Description: Antique 1890 TRANSFERWARE WASH JUG PITCHER Onondaga Pottery CoIronstone[Early Syracuse China] This large Victorian wash jug has a white glossy glazed background and transferware floral design on each sideRARE almost impossible to find these pieces/ especially in such MAGNIFICENT condition/ as they were used for everyday wash water pitchers on dressers, before running water was common. Most were chipped cracked or discarded as obsolete in 'modern homes'! Rotund rounded shape is very generous, would be a beautiful centerpiece or table vase Images of flowers are very minutely detailed and delicate, flowers are soft peachy orange and butter yellow with grey green leaves. Fancy handle with bands, and scalloped rim of pitcher. Beautiful 3-D embossed scrollwork at shoulder Size Approx. 10.5" tall x 27" around, 6.5" across spout, w large easy grip handleHeavy and well made ELEGANT and GRACEFUL shapeMarked OP Co. China on base- this is an EARLY mark from 1890 or before, when Onondaga Pottery began decorating their plain white pieces with designs from Syracuse China, which was right across the street from their factory Excellent/pristine condition for age, considering the piece is over 125 years old! LARGE SIZE. No crazing and no chips nicks cracks or scratches. No repairs. Band of gold trim along rim edge is worn, normal for age, very hard to notice as it is almost cleanly worn off. Gold bands at neck are unfaded. Must have been VERY carefully stored. Transferware images of flowers in peachy orange and soft yellow w grey green leaves PRISTINE without fading and no darkening. A great piece very special. Designs on both sides of pitcher. Fancy handle and scalloped top. Embossed scrolled design around collar. See all pics and use zoom.Very clean and spotless inside. Please note the following, dear fellow shopping enthusiasts: I strive to give you the best service possible. I am not a dealer or professional, just a lifelong collector and enthusiast. I only list items that I think are unique and of good quality. I represent my items as accurately and clearly as I can, and believe it is always better for you to have too much information than not enough! Please ask any questions before bidding, I will happily respond. Remember, these are vintage items and will have reasonable signs of age and wear which only adds to their personality, appeal and "funky vintage-ness". They are not in their original boxes unless noted. I do not excessively clean items or remove age patina, as I want to leave that option for the buyer. I will promptly ship your item within 1 business day and post great positive feedback for you once payment is received. Go Green! I try to re-use clean, almost-new shipping boxes when possible. I will gladly combine shipping on multiple items for you. Thank you for looking! Enjoy your one-of-a-kind treasures
