Next, There is a little bit of rust on the cast-iron rosettes. That is easily removed with a quick scrub with white vinegar followed by a mild soap (the blue stuff) and hot water wash. Rinse thoroughly. CAREFULLY place rosettes directly onto the Center of rack in the hot oven for 10 minutes. This will evaporate any remaining moisture. Next, carefully remove rosettes from oven and place them on a trivet or heat proof rack, and allow to cool at room temperature until you can handle them without burning your fingers. Next, pour a little bit of grapeseed oil or some other oil that has a very high smoke point above 400 (avocado/peanut/canola/soybean/lard/vegetable shortening/clarified bacon grease or even ghee) into a small bowl or dish and use a paper towel, kitchen towel, pastry, brush, or your fingers to apply a thin layer of oil all over each rosette coating every surface, but make sure you don’t have any access because you don’t want drips Next, the oil cast iron rosettes into your preheated oven onto the same center rack and allow to cook for one hour, then turn off the oven and allow it to slowly cool along with the irons. When everything is cool to the touch, your irons should be properly seasoned and nonstick.
