Description: This antique letter was written in 1898 by Julia Harrington (originally from Chester VT), wife of Mankato MN doctor Zina G Harrington. Her husband was president of the Mankato State Bank. She writes extensively on the war with Spain, which started the month before this letter was written. She mentions George Dewey coming from our native state and says, “The regiment passed through here last Monday night and have arrived in San Francisco, from where ____ will probably be ordered in a few days to the Philippines. We feel very sad to have him go…” Most of a page (front and back) is dedicated to mostly things related to the war. There may be more beyond that.
