Description: Truly exceptional circa early 1910s dress in very, very good condition. The dress is made of a lightweight silk in a rich, saturated purple color. The fabric is covered in a green and magenta comma or paisley shaped print. The bodice is bloused in front. The center rests open to reveal a section of sheer tulle. Tiny, facted, green glass beads adorn the neckline of the tulle. A lace collar surrounds the remainder of the neckline and this fabric also makes up the cuffs on the half-length sleeves. Both the sleeves and the bodice have fabric-covered buttons and appliquéd embroidered floral accents. The skirt is long and slim and has a decorative fold above the hemline. The waist is hidden by the original matching belt. This belt is a wide, folded sash topped with a huge bow. There is boning in both the bow and the belt to create stability and maintain shape. The belt hooks to close and the dress closes with a series of hooks and eyes on the left side of the front. The dress has no labels. Overall the condition of this dress is pretty remarkable. The buttons on the bodice look pretty good, one has a small area of wear to the fabric. One button on the right sleeve shows a fair amount of surface wear. The dress has a small dark spot on the left-front shoulder. You can see this in the photo but you have to look closely, it's just above one of the comma prints. There are also some larger, but very subtle, dark spots on the back-right side of the bodice. Unfortunately, I don't think they really show up in the photo (second from last), I couldn't quite get the exposure right. The two side seams of the skirt show stress (not torn/separated, just seam stress) just above the hem but from what I can tell the silk, tulle, and lace of the dress is otherwise fully structurally intact. The belt has a tear in the green silk backing of the bow and one of the hooks is causing rust and should be removed. It also has some just general yellowing of the white backing. And that's all I really have to say regarding condition. This dress is very old and it's possible that I've missed something small but I've done my very best to inspect, photograph, and describe it. I want you to know what you're getting! It is offered as-is and as-found. I've done no cleaning and no mending. This is a consignment item so I'm unable to accept returns.
