Description: Wonderful antique condition AD from 1921. It’s framed with a simple and perfectly matched black frame and backed with newsprint dating 1938. I have not removed it so as not to damage it or the nails. Frame is sturdy and glass is intact, I see no moisture or even dust issue behind the glass, the color is still vibrant and does not appear to be sun bleached at all. The rope and C/W are a light reddish orange, Rastus has a hint of warm brown to his skin and the same reddish orange highlight to his lips and bow tie, the black text and “chalkboard” is full and crisp. No creases or folds. The front of the glass and frame were carefully and lightly cleaned for photos, but nothing further. Frame measures about 12x9.5” While the voice of this 100 year old ad is quite cringy and inappropriate in today’s world, this is still a piece of Americana advertising history. Societal progress isn’t made or kept by bleaching the past of its sins. I hope this finds a place in a loved and respected collection. This is a piece of throw away paper that has somehow avoided damage for over a century! Photos are of the exact framed original 1921 ad print, please see them carefully. I ship most orders out same or next business day and I’m happy to combine items and save on shipping, see my other listings.
