Description: Incredible antique portrait of a gentleman in a business suit painted by artist, Irving Glass, in Paris, France in 1937, over 85 years ago. A very well done portrait with impressive detail as well as capture of light, shadow, depth and emotion. Medium is oil on canvas done in a Realist style. Canvas affixed to wood stretcher bars with antique nails. Top left corner is signed Glass, Paris ‘37 and the verso is also signed, reading Irving Glass, Paris, 1937. Back of canvas also stamped with a makers mark. Framed in its tremendous antique original gold gilded beveled wood frame and ready to hang. I did notice some faded markings on the base of frame but couldn’t decipher a maker. In Fair/As Found overall condition. Exhibits heavy wear, some indents, heavy rippling and some gentle tears. Exhibits heavy cracking/alligatoring to the paint which, we think, gives this piece an incredible distressed look! Worthy of restoration but also dispalys quite stunningly as is! Measures 39 1/2” x 32” and 44 5/8” x 37” with the frame. Please enjoy the photos for further item details and if you have any questions feel free to ask.
