Description: Antique 1948 Hand Carved Wood Carving "Fishing Village", By H.H. Baldwin. This beautiful piece is in pristine condition. It was handcarved in 1948 by someone known as H.H. Baldwin. Unfortunately, I could not find out much about this artist. But I did find that in 1950 Earl Gresh made an almost exact duplicate of this wood carving in his own version he called, "Fishing Village". You can find information about Earl Gresh's piece here: https://reelsnlures.com/earl-gresh-marquetry/ After some extended research, I believe that this is of a location in or near St. Petersburg, Florida. That is where Earl derived most of his inspiration for his art from. From what I understand, the person I bought this from had told me this was a one of a kind wood carving that was gifted to this person's father when he became a cop in 1948. He has since passed away. This is a beautiful piece of art that should be on display in someone's home that will treasure it and take care of it for years to come. It's also the original version of this wood carving since Earl's hadn't been released yet. I also paid for an appraisal of this piece and feel that this is a fair asking price.
