Description: Stellmacher Teplitz Antique Amphora Vase Art Nouveau - Jugendstil Approximately 8 5/8" tall, 2 7/8" wide across the top, 7" wide including the two low handles, the base is 4 1/2". The roses and greenery have raised, hand painted, gold highlights. The opposite side has soft, lavender shapes of leaves and a dragon fly in the upper right. The bottom is clearly marked with the Stellmacher Teplitz mark. The mark was used from 1895 to 1905. There is an impressed number 4 above the mark. Below the mark A 6 is hand incised into the porcelain. Hand written numbers 2247 and what I think is 174. Stellmacher split from his associates after the Chicago World’s Fair in 1895 where they had won numerous prizes and were hailed for the quality of their works. Stellmacher along with other pottery and porcelain houses from the Dresden area, was noted for it’s amphora and for it’s production of high quality porcelain. Very fine vintage condition. No chips. No cracks. Gold has worn on the rim. Please look closely at my photographs as I do consider them part of my description. Please email if you have any questions.
