Boch Freres was established in Belgium by the owner of Velleroy and Boch. The two were married in 1853. Leopold reigned as King of Belgium from 1865 until 1909, the longest reigning Belgian monarch. On the bowl is the Belgian motto "L'Union fait la force," which means "Unity makes strength." There is a wonderful complex border with the lion rampant symbol of Belgium in various heraldic presentations. The diameter of the bowl is 9 and 1/8 inches.
