Description: Antique original Steam whistle / valve From a old time locomotive engine , steam ship or large steam driven tractor Over all ,.. it measures about 10.5 inches tall and just under 3 “ in diameter It has a 6” cast iron pull lever The inner valve piston still moves , the access cap has several wrench marks ( see the photos ) The cylinder shows signs of old brazing repairs The inner iron spindle has been trimmed off at the top ,.. ( eliminating the threads for attaching a decorative finial ) The only marking I could find is a number ‘ 7 ‘ 1” diameter threaded base The lower valve section is cast Bronze, the upper cylinder is heavy turned brass early style , pre 1880s the same type used on the old wood and/or coal fired steam powered train locomotives , steam ships and even large tractors it has a pleasing mellow patina ,.. but will look greater if buffed & shined up ! I have no way to test it , but it looks like it should still work Don’t pass it up ! Perfect for the train buff ,.. ship / steam engine aficionado ! A scarce antique railroad collectible !
