Description: Antique Hand-Colored print on brittle antique paper entitled "Zur Geschichte der Costume", and numbered 203. The print depicts French costumes from the eras of Louis the Fourteenth, from the era of Frederick the Great, and from the French Revolution era. This print, and others I am listing, have been boxed away for over 20 years. They were originally published in single-sheets, in the German magazine MUCHENER BILDERBOGEN published in Munich between 1861 and 1880 and a selection were published in book form by Wolf & Bohn in two volumes titled ZUR GESCHICHTE DER KOSTUME (The History of Costume), illustrating the history of costumes worn in different areas of Asia, Europe and Africa since ancient times through to the end of the 19th Century. This print is on fairly brittle paper and measures 14" by 17". The depictions and coloring are impeccable, perfect for mounting and framing. An area of the right margin has damage one and one-quarter inches long and extending one inch from the right edge, but still in the margin. So the print can be mounted and not lose any of the figures. The print is on one side of the page- the other side is blank. Very minor foxing to the paper on the edges. This print will be shipped in a mailing tube to preclude damage in shipment. Winning bidder pays 6.95 s/h/insurance for US delivery. Overseas ask for quote. Accept Paypal.
