Description: An unusual Carltonware bone china ‘Baby’s Plate’, made by Wiltshaw & Robinson around the turn of the 20th century. Wiltshaw & Robison Carlton Works, Stoke – Staffordshire Pottery, were the original company that produced the now famous Carltonware. The script mark on the bottom is the one that occurred from 1920 onwards. The bowl depicts a regal robed woman on a white horse surrounded by 7 children and a dog. An old English nursery rhyme verse reads: Ride a cock horse to Banbury Cross, To see a fine lady upon a white horse; With rings on her fingers and bells on her toes, She shall have music wherever she goes. The condition of the bowl is excellent. No chips, cracks or repairs that I can identify. Some age-related wear. See photos for detail. Diameter: 7.5" Height: 1.25" Weight: 1.5 lbs In excellent pre-owned vintage condition. Enlarge/zoom photos for detailed view and measurements.
