Description: Antique Charcoal Drawing? Framed Spooky Serious Old Lady Read Back Story 27X31” This one has us a little confused! we did not take it out of the frame due to the delicate nature. The frame and the art appears to be very very old. Please note in the last pictures bubble in the glass, (see last pic) which would indicate an older item. We can’t determine for certain what this art is. Initially, we thought it was charcoal on paper. However, the area where it is ripped clearly shows cloth similar to canvas. We do not believe that this is a photo crayotype or crayon portrait enlargement because we see no evidence of the photograph underneath the drawing; it all looks drawn. The back of the art looks like it would if it had been a canvas on stretched frame. Perhaps it is some sort of paper applied to cloth that we are not familiar with? The backstory: we were told that this came from an old home in upstate New York and was the only item left in the entire house—-tucked against the wall in the attic! Some people see a kindly grandma others feel this picture is spooky and has a sinister undertone. It measures approximately 26 1/2“ x 30 1/2“ including the frame. The art itself is in fair to poor condition. There is a sizable rip in the center top near the top of the woman’s head. There is water damage staining on the lower edge. Additionally, there is a drip that looks like water damage on the upper left corner. We also note the outline of the wooden frame behind has left a mark along the front on the right side. The frame is a mixture of wood and gesso and has several areas that need repair . We have provided pictures of the condition of the frame which we would say is fair to good. Please note that we are not experts of this type of art so it is imperative that you review all photos carefully as part of the description and ask any questions prior to purchase to ensure that the type of art is what you expect. This is an extra large piece and the shipping cost reflects the box and packing needed to ensure its safe delivery.
