Description: Antique Fishing Rod John Conroy New York Unmarked 1860's Civil War Era Rare! Being offered is this beautiful & rare example of an Early American fishing rod likely made by John Conroy (52 Fulton Street ) in New York City. All Conroy rods made before 1864, except one so far are unmarked. This style of rod was made from the 1840's to 1875ish. This rod was likely made in the 1860's because of the tip compartment in the butt section and the guides that can be interpreted as Henry Prichard's first patent of 1859. This rod features witness marks used for aligning each section as well as soldered ferrules. 100% authentic & original as pictured! Remarkable condition! An example of an unmarked Conroy rod sold for 3200.00 at Lang's auction 17 years ago in 2008.
