Description: An HB Quimper vase with a bulbous body and double flared rim decorated with the classic flower sprays, blue dot quintet, and bi-colored banding of Quimper faience. Adorning the vase neck is a hand painted lady in traditional costume and holding flowers. This piece dates from the mid 1880s to 1904 as indicated by the serif HB mark of the Quimper Grand Maison factory owned and founded by Hubaudiere and Bousquet, respectively. The bottom of the vase is also marked with "Dives S/ Mer" to indicate the origin of the traditional costume worn by the lady or to be sold as a souvenir in the seaside town of Dives Sur Mer. In very good antique condition with areas of glaze crawling and a pre-glaze linear rim defect, both originating from the hand production methods of that time (see photos) There is also some surface crazing and mild wear to the areas of glaze crawling and the base foot (see photos).
