Description: Antique Gentleman's Travel Case Burlwood Sterling Pieces Exquisite. This is a large Burlwood wood box. Hand carved. Handed down in the family dating back to late 1800's to early 1900's. There is plate that goes on the top of the box, stating that this was a gift for the original owner and a going away gift for his trip from Glasgow, Scotland to America, as well as his outstanding time of work for a company, There is an area that has been etched off? perhaps the date? This made its way by boat from Scotland , Some say it was quite possible he could have been on the Titanic... Interesting theory that I will have to look further into it further. One mans quest to go to America. And here it is, still in tact. This exudes "class" and the upper echillon of the Scottish.... Every piece is so elegant.. Most made of sterling silver caps, some not, mother of pearl inlaid items, cuff clinks , possibly gold, mother of pearl fountain pen with gold tip, wooden containers that look handmade, I can't figure out what they were used for, I tried to take pictures of every thing so please look at all and enlarge. It has the top the layer of the box, lined in blue velvet, which when you lift open one section there is the bottom full of goods,,also has 2 small collectible old books, as well as a small photo album with very old pictures of a trip . Very interesting and chock full of history. For the most part the box looks great, but the front right side has a crack along that section and another one. These can easily be repaired by someone who knows how. I did not want to alter this piece rather disclose and leave as is as part of its character and age, Please message Jacquie with any questions. If you research these old Gentlemans travel cases or womans you will find many priced very high, I feel I am pricing this very fairly.. You need to look at all of the items that make up this piece of amazing history.
