Description: Antique Victorian Flow blueOn offer is a beautiful antique John Maddock & Sons Royal Vitreous Orchid design flow blue vase. c1890 , this is stuning with spatterware on the gold and great pattern measures 5.25 tall by 3.5 wide marked as shown This item is in perfect used condition with no chips, cracks, crazing or wear to the pattern or gilding. Please see photos.The Flow Blue story is interesting in itself. It's unknown how it really began...a happy accident then intentionally? Sometimes called "Flown Blue". At any rate there was a period in early1800s-early 1900s beginning in Staffordshire England potteries where the blue was "flowed" during firing. By the Victorian era and late 1800s porcelain was a desirable item and Flow Blue became a trendy thing. Collectors even value cracked dishes.
