Dates back to the 1922-1929 period when the "Nagoya, Japan" label was used. At the time it was made, the Suzuki No. 5 was meant to be a premium grade model for advanced players (ranking in the upper half of the Nos.1-9 premium line-up and above the “standard” A, B and C models for students). The violin features a tight-grained Japanese Ezo Spruce top (which is currently a restricted group of species) and gorgeous flamed Maple back. The instrument has a light construction, with a thinly graduated top, and produces a warm, well-balanced tone across the entire range. The lower registers are full-bodied and the trebles are brilliant and articulate. These violins are particularly popular among folk/blue grass musicians due to these violin's powerful projection and full-bodied tone. The instrument is well preserved for its age. There are multiple nicks and scratches but no cracks, repairs, or other structural defects that I can detect (please review the images carefully). Please note that the beautiful original tailpiece with the mother-of-pearl eye has been thoughtfully preserved, while other fittings were professionally upgraded. The violin comes with a light-weight woodcore case (made in Japan by Toyo Gakki for Shimokura, a major music instrument retailer). The case is gently used, clean, and fully functional. Accessory Option I recognize that the buyers of advanced violins are often very particular about their bows and accessories. Therefore, I have unbundled my offering of the violin and other items. This listing includes the violin with case only. Also shown in the images is a brand new (unused, unrosined) Pernambuco bow and Everest shoulder rest (gently used) – these two items can be purchased for an extra $100, which is a significant discount from my regular price. If you would like to purchase these items too, please let me know, and I will modify this listing. Other bows and accessories are also available - please feel free to inquire V140
