Description: this is a lovely antique oil painting on "board" showing Niagara Falls done in a semi-naive style - my guess is that the painting was a souvenir that could be purchased 100 years ago by tourists who were visiting Niagara Falls while on vacation - on the reverse of the painting in a hand stamp that reads "Loveman Studios 23 West Falls, Niagara Falls, N.Y." - what really stands out in this painting is the incredible colors that are still vibrant & bold - the painting shows a sunset where the artist used a palette of bright red, orange, & yellow to show the colors of the setting sun, above which is a bright blue sky with some thin off-white clouds floating in the sky - below those bright colors one sees the Niagara Falls cascading straight down in lengthy streams of pale-blue & off-white colors crashing to the river surface below - the streams of cascading water & water surface below the falls were well-created in various shades of blue & off-white colors which show the result of the falling streams smashing into the rocks & water below - amidst all of this commotion the viewer sees a steam-driven boat making its way towards the huge plumes of spraying water - the painting measures 16" x 9" sight size, & is in very good antique condition - it is well-enhanced by its original semi-ornate wooden frame which measures 18" x 11", & is also very good antique condition -
