Description: Polish Matriarch. For quite a while, Poland was actively producing nesting dolls that were exported to the US, as well as elsewhere. I believe these nesting dolls from 1930’s. Quite old. Not many have survived in good shape, as they were meant to be played with, and often were beat up with pieces going missing. This set of five women in descending age is typical in its bright pastel colors and interesting lathe work. First doll has a button nose. Made in Poland sticker on the bottom of the first doll. Shiny lacquer (couple of "hot spots" in the photo due to reflection.) . 5 nest, measured from 5” to 1”. Condition is very good. The second doll has paint damage on the top of her head.
