Description: This a fully and properly restored Seth Thomas "Whitby" model clock from 1913 that is in Beautiful condition and has been fully restored and in fine working order ! The most beautiful original mahogany cabinet with gold inlayed marquetry has been thoroughly cleaned, polished and waxed to it's original luster and presents nearly as it did over a century ago and has few flaws. there is one very small chip in the veneer at the top back that is hardly noticeable except when looking directly down, please see all of the high resolution photos. The original enameled porcelain dial is in excellent condition and has no noticeable flaws. It is printed with "Cowell and Hubbard Co. Cleveland". They were a high end retailer in Cleveland for over 120 years that commissioned Seth Thomas to make clocks for them. The brass bezel has thick beveled glass has been thoroughly cleaned and polished and presents as new. The bezel door closes as it did when new. The original hour and minute hands have been reblued and complete this classic and beautiful face of the clock. The original Seth Thomas 48 R fine movement has been completely disassembled and all parts cleaned ultrasonically and hand polished. the wheel pivots polished on a jewelers Lathe and the pinions cleaned and 9 bushings have been properly installed. The Mainsprings that power the clock were removed from their barrels and properly cleaned and greased. The movement then properly reassembled adjusted and oiled. it has been keeping excellent time for several weeks. The strike hammer leather has been replaced and the Clock chimes a pleasant soft single strike on the half hour and a full hourly strike on the hour on its polished brass and steel cathedral gong. A most splendid functional time piece that could be proudly displayed and enjoyed in any room in your home for generations to come. This Seth Thomas Whitby model can be found in Tran Duy Ly's book on Seth Thomas clocks (pictured) as it appeared in their 1913 catalog. It measures 12 inches tall and 8 inches wide by 6 '' deep. This is an 8 day clock that needs to be wound on both sides weekly with the included 2 sided key, small end is for fast/slow adjustment through the front of dial. This will be packed with great care and shipped via UPS. I would also make myself available for setup and ongoing care as the pendulum and Cathedral gong on this clock would be removed for shipping due to it's unique movement with complete and personal instruction.
