Description: This card is and a hand-painted woodcut, in the ‘Cadiz’ style of antique playing cards, popular in the mid 1800 to early 1900s. Printed in Spain for export to Latin America. Rare and collectable, one card, in excellent condition for its age. Comes to you in an archival grade thin inner sleeve and a semi rigid outer case, both UV resistant, this is the recommended method of protecting old cards for display. Date of Manufacture: The backs have a printed pattern, the corners are square, and there are no corner numbers. This combined with the hand painted colors tells us the card was printed in the mid to late 1800s. Style: The Cadiz pattern refers to a style of cards printed in Spain, mostly for export to Latin America. An interesting feature of Cadiz cards are the borders, which help identify the suit. The cups have a single break in the line, the swords have two breaks, the batons have three breaks, and the coins have a solid line.
