Description: An exquisite example of the brilliance of Sitzendorf, a porcelain manufacturer whose origins date back to 1760.Always known for their fine modeling and meticulous painting technique, this young male courtier in frock coat and waistcoat standing in front of a tree covered with beautifully sculpted vines creates a striking presence on any mantle or dining table. The Sitzendorf brand existed until 2012 when the remainder of the company was auctioned-off. This piece was made much earlier, between 1896 - 1932, when the company was known as Sitzendorfer Porzellanfabrik Alfred Voigt A.G, It was Voigt who changed the logo in 1896 to depict the crown, the letter "S" and the double "pitchforks" that had been part of the Sitzendorf mark in some form since 1760.This logo shown on the base came into existence in 1918. The circular brown customs stamp was used on goods up until 1920. Consequently, this piece can be accurately dated at sometime between 1918-1920 making it rather unique since Sitzendorf porcelain only carried this mark sequence for two years. Stands just under 13" (32cm) tall and is approximately 5 3/4" (15cm) across the base. It is flawless, no blemish, crack, chip of any kind. The colors are brilliantly vibrant with no fading what so ever. Indeed it appears "as new", though it a century old. It has obviously been highly regarded and gfven the care a work this fine deserves. For the Sitzendorf collector, a rare find indeed.
