Description: For sale is an antique stoneware mug commemorating the SS Christopher Columbus' route between Chicago and Milwaukee. The SS Christopher Columbus was an excursion liner in operation from 1893 to 1933. It was initially built for transportation during the World's Fair, which Chicago hosted from May 5 to October 31, 1893. Sometime between 1906 and 1909, the SS Christopher Columbus was placed on service between Chicago and Milwaukee. This particular mug features the SS Christopher Columbus and text in red ink, which I believe is more scarce than the green ink more commonly seen. CONDITION: The mug is in great condition with no chips, flea bites, wear, or repairs. There is a small crack - a bit deeper than a hairline - on the interior rim (photo 7). A very small portion of it extends on to the exterior rim (photo 8).There is faint crazing across the mug (photo 9). Please see all photos and message me if you have any questions or would like additional photos. MEASUREMENTS / WEIGHT: The mug measures 4' tall and approximately 4 3/4" wide (including handle). The base is 3" in diameter. The mug weighs 14 oz. MARKINGS: The only marking on the mug is the number 8 printed in bold, black ink on its base. TIME PERIOD: Circa 1906 SHIPPING: Buyer is responsible for USPS Priority Mail, USPS Ground Advantage, or UPS Ground shipping costs. Insurance of up to $100 coverage is included. If you purchase multiple items from my eBay store, please wait for a revised invoice, reflecting combined shipping, before paying.
