Description: Maker: On the reverse of this exquisite large rimmed soup or pasta bowl is the red backstamp number 34 of Theodore Haviland, one of the great Limoges firms at the turn of the last century; this mark was in use between 1904 and around 1925. The phrase "Patent Applied For" also appears along with the impressed "TH" white ware mark number 27 that was in use between 1894 and 1957. Source: third edition of the Collector's Encyclopedia of Limoges Porcelain by Mary Frank Gaston. That means this bowl was produced between 1904 and 1925, making it at least 97 years old, and perhaps older. Design: The bowl is beautifully hand painted with purple flowers and green leaves, in keeping with the exceptionally high quality that made the company's porcelain so famous and so coveted. The pattern is called Schleiger 1038-b. It's on the lovely Haviland blank called Lamballe, or blank 124. Condition: The bowl is in excellent condition with no nicks, chips, cracks, stains, repairs, crazing or wear. Size and weight: It's 9 5/8 inches wide and 1 7/8 inches tall, and weighs 15 ounces. Please check all the photos very carefully - they are an important part of the description.
