Description: Here's an antique Vapo Cresolene medical vaporizer lamp with original embossed glass VAPO CRESOLENE miniature kerosene lamp in its original box!....complete with original brass emb burner, original milkglass chimney, ornate iron stand with old gold paint finish...it even has the original little tin pan on top that held the Vapo Cresolene medicine fluid (which was coal tar pitch)....The little miniature glass lamp is clear colored glass and embossed VAPO CRESOLENE USE KEROSENE ... It has the original brass threaded collar and brass burner, which is emb V.C.CO with stars. Burner has original wick. Also has original white milkglass chimney which is in excellent condition. Total height of lamp and stand is 6 1/8"tall. The lamp nests in a round base of the fancy, ornately decorated iron stand with original gold paint finish. The flared tin top is embossed PATENTED AUG.4 85 - AUG.8 88 ........The little tin pan that sits on top would have held the Vapo Cresolene liquid which was heated by the lamp....similar to the Vicks Vaporub Vaporizer that many of had to endure when we were children. Vapo Cresolene was basically a powerful coal tar pitch liquid which had a very strong smell. The lamp, chimney and iron stand are all in good condition with no damage. The ornate Victorian stand has original old gold paint finish. Comes in original cardboard box that is printed around all 4 sides and lid.
