Description: For Sale is this Brass Lantern Clock. It measures 37.5cms in Height.Chapter Ring 14.5cms Diameter. Dial is Signed on Bottom John Knibb Oxon Fecit (Made by John Knibb of Oxford). Narrow Chapter Ring secured to Dial Plate by 4 round pegs with pins. These Narrower Chapter Rings more usual in 17th Century,becomeing wider on later Lantern Clocks The Four Pillars appear to each be one casting to include Finials and Feet.(Often found on West Country Clocks) The three Frets are of the Unicorn and Lion (Royalist Emblem during late 17th Century) Square Cut Brass "Hob cut" Screws hold Frets etc.These probably Original and Rare. There is a Crack in the Bell possibly made during Casting.There is a loose component from the movement.Last but one image shows where it should go on end of square shaft.Just needs a small pin to secure. The two Side Doors are missing. One weight Present.Pulley Block is Wooden.Hook and Spike Attachments. Not sure if all internals present but looks fairly complete.Short "Bob" pendulum. You must judge authenticity and if genuine,a Rare clock ,possibly late 17th Century c1690. CAN POST OVERSEAS BUT I WILL NOT GET INVOLVED WITH TAXES or CUSTOMS DUTIES ETC. I have,to date, NOT received any comments disputing the Authenticity of my Lantern Clock and PERSONALLY believe it to be an authentic Late 17th Century John Knibb original requiring minor work to make operational.However,buyer must decide as no returns.
