Description: Antique Victorian or Edwardian Beggars purse has a brass gate expanding top with snap closure lid. The body of the purse is in black velvet, and is decorated with turquoise blue glass round beads surrounding clusters of gold beads - a line of gold beads descends from the blue cluster emulating flowers with stems. In the spaces between the stems are what appears to be an anchor and crown in gold beads. The bottom of the purse has strands of black fringe, each decorated with a cluster of gold beads surrounding a single turquoise blue colored glass bead. A brass chain is attached to the gate top, and a loop for hanging on a chatelaine terminates the chain. Approximate measurements: 11 inches long loop to fringe ends, is 3 inches wide at the widest point. Very good antique condition, please see notes below. Condition Notes:No holes to purse body, there is some wear to the velvet mostly at the top. Beading looks to be mostly intact, no large areas of loss. Gate top lid snaps tightly in place, gate expands and contracts correctly. Two segments of the gate have issues - one is separated from its hinge mate, the other is broken in two. Some loose threads inside the opening. Other wear and tear not noted may be present consistent with an antique personal accessories.
