Antique W. Adams & Sons, Athens Pattern 1849 Transferware Flow Blue ~8.5” Plate

Description: This listing is for an antique flow blue transferware dinner plate in the Athens pattern made by the William Adams Company, Tunstall & Stoke, Staffordshire, England, originally established in 1769. The plates are marked "No. 56978," with an English Registry mark indicating that the design was registered on January 3, 1849, and "ATHENS W.ADAMS & SONS". That makes this plate 172 years old!! The plate has a vibrant transfer decoration. There is a chip on the back of the plate. See photo. They all have small stilt marks on the front and back (see photos) which is common to the manufacture process. No other chips, cracks, crazing or repairs. There is a gentle scallop to the edge of the plate. This item measures 8 5/8" in diameter.
