Description: Really spectacular antique porcelain vase or flower holder in the Art Pottery style with the YALE UNIVERSITY crest surrounded by purple flowers (violets?) -- all definitely hand painted. Piece is signed "E.M.W." on the bottom. I can't find any information about the mark nor any similar pieces online. Perhaps it was a locally produced item or even a student work. In any event, it's definitely old, uncommon, unique and attractive. Excellent overall condition except for a small chip along the rim and a hairline crack near it (see photo) -- neither of which compromises the overall visual appeal. The paint is well executed and bold, with no fading, chipping or scratches. It measures 3 1/4" tall and about 4" wide -- see soda can for scale.
