Chicago has quite a history of punk related music and some noteworthy acts have come out of the city, especially during my coming of age in the eighties. Naked Raygun, Effigies and Big Black come to mind. My favorite (by far) was the three guitar onslaught of Articles Of Faith. I loved their "Give Thanks" lp which is still a great listen, and I really liked the posthumous second album as well. I even saw them once in 1985 in Richmond Virginia during a steamy summer evening, they really killed that night. I will always remember singer Vic Bondi grabbing an old friend of mine and screaming in his face for the entire verse of a song. It was very effective. They plowed through the entire “Give Thanks” album and earlier singles. This set is forever etched in my memory. AOF were the perfect balance of speed and superior songwriting. These guys did not eff around at all. We played with a bunch of images and Vic liked this inverted drawing on a black shirt with the bands logo behind them; the three guitar onslaught on full display.
