The Germans claimed a tactical victory on the Italian front at the end of World War II. The Germans tied up large numbers of allied troops and held on until Germany surrendered and the war ended. This is a great invasion game. The game starts as the allies attempt to advance up Italy from the boot after the allied victory in Sicily. The initial allied invasion at Anzio almost failed. The Germans called it the largest prison camp of the war. Both sides are pretty evenly matched in the game so its a tough match. The Germans have the terrain in their favor and the Allies have mobility in their favor. The game board is in excellent shape and the game is complete with all the playing aids and playing pieces. Wonderful game. Anzio was the first time Avalon Hill used a color map. Played this game many times. It has a short game centered around the breakout at Anzio and it is a good one. Short game or campaign.
